I have a story to tell. I tell it through my paintings. My story is about my nostalgia and love of the past. Paintings can evoke these feelings. I take it one step further by formatting my work in diptychs and triptychs, reminiscent of storyboards. When I was in design school, we prepared storyboards as a way to outline and plot out an advertisement or video. My painting storyboard formats are not literal stories but they have a visual narrative, using an ambiguous sequence of events. As a poem evokes feelings, my work employs a look and is formatted to transport the viewer to acknowledge the importance of simple things like comfort, warmth and security.
